1. Green Garden Pujita—GGP
GGP is basically a distribution program of quality seed & plant. At the same time it provides advices & suggestions on agriculture. This program is presently running especially for the three different remote rural areas in Bangladesh.
Currently, we are working at Kuakata (Patuakhali), Akhaura (Brahman-Baria), & Shastagonj (Sylhet). Over the last three years we have reached to around 440 families to give out plants & advice, throughout the three satellite areas.
Goals of GGP
2. Patronize a Plant—PAP
Patronize a plant is a door to door distribution program which gives away one to five different kinds of saplings, at first to friends & family members. After a certain time (minimum one year) the Foundation recollects those grown trees and distributes those through the PAP chapter.
An Individual can get involved to adopt few trees and so, nursing those trees they acquire a relationship with the nature. At the same time cosmopolitan citizen can get acquainted with the green movement. The best part of this program is self-learning, and people get to feel their personal involvement.
Udbastu Foundation began this program on the Pohela Boishak of Bangla New Year 1416 (14th April, 2009). We began with only 52 families throughout the city of Dhaka. Now, in 2011, we have more than 263 families in Dhaka as well as in other cities.
Through this program mostly our cosmopolitan citizens have contributed their time and efforts for growing plants. As they do not have enough space for planting or gardening, so contribute in this way. The beauty of this program is that people are using out-going water of their A/C’s fro their plant.
Goals of PAP
3. Promoting Edible Palm Trees—PEP
Apparently PEP is a very simple give away program. It runs every year during the month of May, June & July. Through this program the Foundation first selected 3 Bungalow/ farmhouse in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Sylhet. Then 66 edible palm trees were distributed to each Bungalow/ farmhouse. Most of them were one and half year old trees.
Now in 2011, the Foundation is in touch with more then 1057 families throughout the 4 different areas in Bangladesh. Most of these trees have been distributed in poor families, schools and graveyards. Moreover the Foundation also supplies fertilizers to the farmer from time to time. The Foundation is planning to provide 3-5 trees to each family.
On the average, after 4 year a palm oil tree will produces 10-12 fruit-branches. Each fruit-branch would weigh 40-60 kg; out of that weight 1/3 could have crude palm oil. One fruit branch takes less then 6 months to become mature to procure oil. The good part is, after extracting the oil from the palm seed, whatever is leftover, that scrap can then be used as an organic fertilizer, rather than using chemical fertilizer.
Normal oil palm trees start bearing fruits after 30-40 months of plantation and would continue to remain productive for the next 20 to 30 years, thus ensuring a consistent supply of oil.

- To make cultivators aware about retaining & maintaining quality of seeds.
- To provide information on how to make garden on the rooftops of houses & fallow land.
- To provide logistical support for local cultural & historical event.
